Why Juice?
I believe the saying, we are what we eat! I believe that the most important foods we put into our bodies each day should be raw, living foods. I mean raw, uncooked fruits, vegetables, and some nuts, grains, seeds, and beans. All are produced by the earth, not by a human run processing plant! When we eat raw and uncooked fruits and vegetables, our bodies separate the fiber from the liquid of the food in the digestive tract. This is where juicing comes in.
Juicing can be an excellent way to get that extra "live" nutrition your body needs because the juicer does the digestive work for us, therefore we assimilate more of the nutrients. You can't get this same effect by the juices you buy in the grocery store: they have been processed, preservatives are added, and the live enzymes that are so important are destroyed. There are some juice powders on the market that are processed without heat, so that enzymes are still alive. These are also good if you don't want to take the time to juice, but still want the benefits! (You must be careful to find out how they are processed though.)
Don't mistake blending fruits and vegetables with juicing them. There is a difference! When you blend, you still are mixing the fiber in with the fruit or vegetable, when you juice you are removing the fiber. (Of course you should eat a high fiber diet away from the times you juice. I suggest juicing 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. If you are eating a meal of primarily cooked food, it is also a good idea to drink a glass of freshly extracted juice right before it to provide your body with live enzymes needed for digestion).
In The Juiceman's Power of Juicing, by Jay Kordich, he states "One cup of carrot juice contains the equivalent nutrition of four cups of raw, chopped carrots. Made fresh and consumed on the spot, juices, which contain about 95% percent of the food value of the fruit or vegetable, instantly release nourishment to the body through the bloodstream...For most people there is no need whatsoever for supplements"
